Congratulations, Mrs. Lamontagne! 
Winner of the MBE Award

(Soufriere, ST LUCIA) – Fond Doux Plantation & Resort co-owner and manager, Mrs. Eroline Lamontagne, was recently named a winner of the MBE Award (Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) given by the Queen of England. Based on outstanding achievement and service to the community, Mrs. Lamontagne was nominated by St. Lucia’s Prime Minister for her passion and commitment to the island of St. Lucia through business.

Mrs. Lamontagne describes the award as a “really amazing honor” for which she is “truly humbled.” When asked to describe her service to the community, she explained, “I come from a large family, where everyone worked hard and helped to raise each other up. Now it’s my turn to help. These are our traditions, and I want to see it continue.”

Born in the scenic town of Soufriere, St Lucia, Mrs. Lamontagne has a strong background in business, accounting, and management. Previous to opening Fond Doux Plantation & Resort, Mrs. Lamontagne was an Accountant at Anse Chastanet Resort. Thereafter, she opened a small restaurant and boutique along with Lord Glenconner Colin Tennant at the former Jalousie Plantation. After the Jalousie Plantation was sold, Eroline and her husband then opened a wholesale and retail frozen food outlet called Eroline Foods. In that same year, Eroline along with her husband, Lyton opened the Fond Doux Plantation as a heritage site offering tours and lunch to cruise ship passengers. 

From internship opportunities with schools to help local students receive additional training, her position on the board of St. Jude’s hospital, her environmental pursuits at Fond Doux and commitment to local sustainability, Mrs. Lamontagne is more than a worthy recipient.

“I don’t want to use the word success,” Mrs. Lamontagne says about receiving the prestigious award for her business endeavors. “There is still a lot of work to be done. But I want the youth to dream and see how they can help others through participation and hard work in our community.”

Of course, Mrs. Lamontagne knows that her name on the award really represents the team she works with. Her husband, family, and colleagues around the island are all pieces of the local projects, and without them, none of it would be possible.

With her vision and creative mindset, she is on the verge of expanding the Resort with the addition of ten more cottages, a gym, a chocolate factory and also restructuring the gift shop to include more local and unique crafts to showcase the Island’s craftsmanship. Her drive and passion has now allowed her to serve effectively as Vice President on the Fond St. Jacques, Roman Catholic Parish Council, St. Jude Hospital Board and the Trade Licensing Board of St. Lucia.
