“I almost want to keep this place a secret because part of the charm was how small and private it felt. Foremost, the staff was wonderful – from the front desk to the bartender to the breakfast crew to my plantation tour guide. It is always a bit of an adventure solo traveling, but I was immediately at ease here. I stayed in one of the treehouse rooms and it was definitely worth the upgrade for the private pool and outdoor shower. Amazing rainforest views and sunsets from your own private deck. The resort pool was really clean and relaxing as well. Enjoyed the food and the bartender couldn’t have been nicer. Fond Doux is a 250-year-old working chocolate plantation, so I had the opportunity to take a chocolate-making class with two lovely women who took me through the whole process. All I had to do was ask to set it up. I was only there for 2 days, but made some friends and enjoyed what felt like a private jungle paradise. I highly recommend it if you are into a little more authentic and adventurous experience vs the popular beach resorts of the island. The trailhead for the Tet Paul nature trail is on the property, which arguably has some of the best Piton views around. And… if you want the best of both worlds, Fond Doux has a free shuttle & passes for guests to use the posh Sugar Beach just up the road.”
